The St. George Ribbon campaign starts in China
The Coordinating Council of Compatriots in China (KSSC) announces the launch of the St. George Ribbon in China campaign.
The attribute of the action is a symbolic ribbon, which uses the traditional bicolor of the St. George Ribbon. It is well known to everyone and was used in the creation of one of the main awards of the Great Patriotic War — the “Order of Glory”. The St. George Ribbon is not an exact copy of it, but is intended to be associated with this symbol of valor and courage.
The Coordinating Council joined the campaign in 2009. The action is held annually on the eve of Victory Day by the forces of the Council of Russian Clubs in Shanghai, Urumqi, Harbin, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Dalian, Hunchun, as well as activists from other cities. At the Consulates General and the Russian Embassy, at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, any citizen, compatriot can also take a ribbon, thus joining the action and expressing participation in the valor of their ancestors.
For the seventh year in a row, our volunteers will distribute black and orange ribbons in memory of the feat of grandfathers and great-grandfathers who crushed the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. The campaign is held under the slogans: “Grandfather’s victory is my victory”, “Tie it up If you remember!”, “I remember! I’m proud!”
The main goal of the campaign was the desire “at all costs not to let new generations forget who and at what cost won the most terrible war of the last century, whose heirs we remain, what and whom we should be proud of, who to remember.”
